PET SCAN

The PET/CT imaging system is revolutionary in the fight against cancer because it combines the benefits of two proven imaging technologies to more accurately diagnose cancers in the body. It gives us the ammunition we need to find tumors that might have gone undetected with previous diagnostic tests and it decreases the need for multiple tests.

During this testing session, our doctors utilize two scans: the Positive Emission Tomography (PET) scan and a Computed Tomography (CT) scan. The combination of these two scans can capture much more than any other diagnostic procedure and give doctors more ability to diagnose cancer at earlier stages. This remarkable tool can pinpoint cancers, show cancerous tissue activity, even reveal the anatomy and structure of the cancerous tissue to help determine staging.
