Dr. Neil Abramson (Emeritus)

Dr. Neil Abramson graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and his medical training and appointments have been at the University of Pittsburgh and the Harvard Medical School. He is well known and well respected for his expertise in a number of fields of Hematology and Medical Oncology.

Dr. Abramson has been a distinguished teacher and research investigator at the Harvard Medical School and at the University of Florida. His appointments include Medical Director of the Baptist Cancer Institute and the former President of the Medical Staff at Baptist Medical Center. He is an active member in several organizations dedicated to the fight against cancer and has served for more than a decade on the Board of Directors of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP).

Dr. Dimitrois Agaliotis

Dr. Dimitrios P. Agaliotis graduated Summa Cum Laude with an MD from the National and Capodistrian University of Athens, Greece in 1981. After completing his residency in Internal Medicine from his alma mater, he completed his residencies in Internal Medicine at Catholic University in Louvain, Belgium (1987) and Haine St. Paul, Belgium (1987).

Dr. Agaliotis then completed clinical fellowships in Medical Oncology/Hematology (1992) from the University of Florida and Bone Marrow Transplantation (1993) from the University of South Florida. He also served as a Clinical Instructor in Bone Marrow Transplantation (1994) and Senior Resident in Internal Medicine (1995) from the University of South Florida. As a member of Medical Associations in both the United States and abroad he brings a scope of knowledge that is extremely beneficial to his patients and peers.

Dr. Carlos Castillo

Dr. Carlos M. Castillo graduated from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 1992. He completed his internship at the University of Texas Science School of San Antonio (1993) and fulfilled his residency in Internal Medicine (1995) and a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology (1997) both at the University of Florida, Jacksonville. Upon completing his education, he continued his work in Oncology at the Jacksonville Oncology Group from 1997 to 2000.

Dr. Castillo is a member of the Duval County Medical Society, the Florida Medical Association, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Troy Guthrie

Dr. Troy Guthrie graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 1971. After completing an internship and residency at the University of Texas Science Center (1972) and a fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia’s section of Hematology/Oncology, Dr. Guthrie continued his stellar and diversified medical career.

Dr. Guthrie served as the Chief of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Florida’s Shands Jacksonville from 1991- 2005. He is currently serving as the Co-Program Director in conjunction with the Medical Oncology Fellowship Program at Shands and previously served as the Program Director for this program from 1992-2005. In addition, Dr. Guthrie served as the Director of the Bone Marrow Transplant program at Shands Jacksonville from 1991 - 1996.

Dr. Jeffrey Harris

Dr. Jeffrey Harris graduated from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in 1992. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine (1995) and a fellowship in Medical Oncology (1997) at the University of Florida, Jacksonville, where he also acted as a clinical instructor.

Dr. Harris is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, Duval County Medical Society, American Society of Internal Medicine, Florida Society of Internal Medicine, Southern Association for Oncology and the Southern Medical Association.

Dr. Zhen Hou

Dr. Zhen Hou graduated with a M.D. from Shanghai Medical University in1988 and earned a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from Iowa State University in 1996. After completing a dual residency program in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Michigan State University (2002), Dr. Hou continued his postgraduate training as a Clinical Specialist and Fellow in Medical Oncology/Hematology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (2005).

Dr. Hou is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Robert Joyce

Dr. Robert Joyce received his MD from Georgetown University in 1968. He completed his Internship (1969) and Residency (1971) in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology (1972) from the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he also served as Chief Resident (1972-1973.)

From 1973 to 1990, he held positions as Research Instructor, Instructor in Hematology, Assistant Professor of Medicine and Associate Professor of Medicine in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. In 1990, he became the Director of Bone Marrow Transplant Program and the Director of Stem Cell Culture Laboratory at the Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida.

Dr. Matthew Luke

Dr. Matthew Luke received his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Ranchi University in Bihar, India in 1978. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine (1981) at Caritas Hospital in Kerala, India, and at Mercy Medical Center (1985) in Chicago, Illinois. From there, he completed a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Florida, Jacksonville.

After completing his education, Dr. Luke began his career as Chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology at VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia. He then ran a successful private practice for nearly a decade in Jacksonville before beginning his stellar career at Regional Consultants.

Dr. Alan Marks

Dr. Alan Marks received his MD Cum Laude from Free University of Brussels, Belgium in 1975 and completed a clinical clerkship (1976) at Queens General Hospital and the Long Island Jewish Hospital in New York. His postgraduate training includes a straight medicine internship (1976), residency in internal medicine (1977) and a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology (1980) all from the University of Florida, Jacksonville.

Dr. Marks holds memberships in local, regional and national organizations such as the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, Florida Society of Clinical Oncology, the Florida Medical Association and the Duval County Medical Society, to name a few.

Dr. Joseph Mignone

Dr. Joseph Mignone graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine in 1997. After completing his residency in Internal Medicine (2000) and a fellowship in Medical Oncology (2003) both at the University of Florida, he continued his work as an assistant professor in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Florida, Jacksonville from 2003 to 2005.

Dr. Mignone holds memberships in the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society of Hematology.

Dr. Augusto Villegas

Dr. Augusto E. Villegas graduated from Puerto Rico’s Ponce School of Medicine in 1996. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Damas Hospital Internal Medicine Program (1999) where he acted as Chief Resident and completed his fellowship in Medical Oncology (2005) at the University of Florida, Jacksonville.

During his career, Dr. Villegas has served as a Medical Director and Director of Ambulatory Services at the Ponce Correctional Complex and as a key faculty member at Damas Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program. He also worked in private practice in Internal Medicine from 1999 to 2003. Dr. Villegas is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology and the American College of Physicians.

George P. Royal, PhD

George P. Royal, Ph.D., is a Clinical Psychologist trained in child, pediatric and health psychology. He specializes in working with adults and children in coping with health and emotional issues related to medical problems such as cancer.

Dr. Royal is a full-time resource available to you and your family at the time of diagnosis, during treatment and upon completion of medical treatment.
